The story of Tatra

The idea to revive the plastic Tatra truck, a legendary toy from the 1970s and 1980s, was conceived by Jan Šlemín, today's executive director of Dino, in 2011. The development of the Tatra truck was very complicated. The toy was to be as similar as possible to the original but stripped of its previous shortcomings and enriched with the elements demanded by the modern times. All this in compliance with strict European and Czech standards.

But the development was successful and in 2014 the legendary plastic Tatra T148 truck saw the light of day again.

Since 2017, the plastic Tatra truck has been completely manufactured in the Czech Republic. The purely Czech production is not always a matter of course with plastic toys, so we are very proud of it.

We care about quality and safety

The plastic Tatra truck also holds the “Safe and Quality Toy“ certificate and meets the strictest criteria required for a toy intended for children from one year of age. Since its inception, it has received many awards from experts and the general public.

The Tatra truck is made in Liberec from food-grade plastic. The material is harmless, non-toxic and meets all quality and safety standards.

Types of the Tatra truck

For a long time now, not only the traditional orange Tatra truck has been leaving the line of the Liberec Novoplast factory. Today it is produced in many other colours.

In addition to the large 72 cm Tatra trucks, the series of 30 cm Tatra trucks for sand were started to be produced in 2016, which are of the same quality and also very popular. These smaller models are also certified for children from one year of age and are produced in the same factory in Liberec.

In 2019, another large model of the Tatra 148 was launched in the form of an excavator with a functional boom and a swivel base with a cab. It gained its popularity with every small and big fans.

Children’s line of Tatra products

In 2017, together with artist Miro Budiš, we created funny pictures of the legendary Tatra truck and its friends. We used these pictures to produce a range of branded products for young fans and lovers of these iconic trucks.
